Variety the Children's Charity & The Agape Project Opportunity

Dear Wig Recipients & Families,

Our friends & supporters at Variety - the Children's Charity of Detroit are partnering with other organizations to make an accessible racing chair available to children with health challenges that result in physical limitations.

The Agape Project, is launching an inclusive effort this spring and summer to make racing experiences possible for children whose disabilities may prevent them from participation without assistance. Their goal is to provide an outstanding experience for race participant riders, their families, and volunteers.

With Variety’s help, The Agape Project has placed its first order of Hoyt Running Chairs, which will be available for use in the 2024 season in Southeastern Michigan. If you are unfamiliar with Hoyt Running Chairs, you can find more information about them (and the amazing father-son team that inspired them) here: https://www.hoytrunningchairs.com/

A list of upcoming race dates, which begin in May and run through September, is included on their website, and Agape is looking for interested child riders. Each race has its own registration process that they can assist with for more information or guidance through their website: https://www.theagapeproject.com/events-1

If you have a rider that will be signing up, please let us know so we can notify Variety who sent us this opportunity, then we can follow your rider along and cheer them on! You can call 586-772-6656 or email maggie@wigs4kids.org
