Kilee, Burn Survivor Shares Story of Hope

Wigs 4 Kids would like to share an inspiring story that proves beauty is not skin deep. 18 year-old Kilee from Brookbank, OH is the survivor of a house fire. Severely burned on 45% of her body, Kilee didn’t let this tragedy stop her from recovering and moving on with her life. The soccer player and honor student spent 38 days in the hospital where she endured multiple skin-graft surgeries on her arms and legs. Recently, Kilee was crowned Prom Queen. After getting her hair & makeup professionally done, and putting on her dress which revealed some of her scars, Kilee said, “I never thought I would want to wear a dress again, yet I feel good about myself now.” This is the difference hair and make-up can have on a teen’s self-esteem and we work with burn survivors to help restore this sense of self-confidence. We congratulate Kilee on serving as a role model for burn survivors everywhere.
