Going Pro Talent Fund: Jobs Available

Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan has received a generous grant from Michigan Works Macomb/St. Clair through the Going Pro Talent Fund to hire and train employees. Certain criteria apply for eligibility within Michigan Works and we can guide you through connecting with their team. To begin the application process, please submit your resume to maggie@wigs4kids.org -  We have the following positions available:

Events/Volunteers Coordinator - will learn how to prepare for, plan and execute events & fundraisers from within the organization and how to collaborate with third-party fundraisers. This trainee will also be taught volunteer management: from working with supporters on an individual level or groups at events onsite & in the community. They will become proficient at using GalaxyDigital; a new software program that will help them be successful at their job.

Digital Marketing Coordinator - trainees will be taught the basics of design if they have no prior digital marketing skills; then they will grow into more advanced work by creating TV slides, billboard artwork, program booklets, additional printed materials, etc. They will also learn about the charity's social media channels Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Youtube, etc and how to update them.

Finance/Quickbooks Coordinator - will work with our finance director to learn all aspects of utilizing Quickbooks; with a special focus on nonprofit accounting. This will include processing monetary gifts, merchandise purchases, in-kind donations of goods & services, etc. Support at events in the community by accepting donations, selling raffle tickets, managing silent auctions. During preparation for our annual elective audit for W4K, they will assist where needed.

Hair Donation Coordinator - They will work in the hair donation department and will help open hair donations sent to the organization from 65 countries around the world. While gaining an understanding of how to utilize Excel to log donations, send mass mail merges (digitally and hard mail) through Publisher/Outlook/Word. They will also learn how to process merchandise sales through Quickbooks and prepare merchandise for mailing. Packaging hair for shipping to the wig manufacturers.

Hospitality Coordinator - This is the first person guests interact with when they visit the Wellness Center or call. In hospitality, they will learn how to manage the front desk area; addressing phone calls, making appointments, reading & responding to emails, ordering wigs, tours of the facility, while providing a warm & welcoming environment for our guests.

Social Work Coordinator - They will shadow our social worker with permission from parents & children to learn how intake evaluations & counseling services are provided on an individual, group and family basis. Grief and loss counseling is also offered and the trainee will learn how to address this need when working with our families. They will participate in all group activities, classes, field trips.

The hair restoration specialist position is separate from the hair donation coordinator as outlined below:

Hair Restoration Specialist - Through the Cuts 4 a Cause hair restoration certification program, licensed cosmetologists will learn wig measurement, ordering, cutting and styling. Training will be facilitated by Maggie Varney, Founder & CEO. Trainees will learn that the program is more than providing a hair replacement system; we also support the psychological, social & emotional healing of our kids. Upon completion, each individual will be evaluated and certification awarded. More information can be found here: https://www.wigs4kids.org/how-you-can-help/cuts-4-a-cause.html
